I am very happy with this novel by Ery Wardhana whose the cover made by me. Like a record sleeve, a book cover is a crucial element of the reading experience. It’s the first thing you see, and great cover can draw you in and persuade you. Judging a book by its cover is not all wrong, because I always ask the writers to give me a “wow” and “aha” moment of the story they wrote then illustrate it for their cover. As a book cover illustrator and designer, especially in fiction genre, I know I have a three-fold responsibility to the author, the publisher and the reader, the obvious one. Entice and tickle them, make them want to know more about what’s hidden on the pages are my responsibility. I really know that the pile of words came from the author’s soul, brain and heart and I consider my cover illustration is the blanket that wraps the author’s baby. It is the story, told in a blink.
